I can't actually admit to ever filling a notebook. I intend for amazing scribbles and deep thoughts to make it's bindings burst when I first open a fresh one, but I feel I'm insulting its press-fresh goodness with my appalling handwriting. And there's never a pen around so the pages get spoiled with a green texta at running-out point. I'd rather just display them on desks or shelves to avoid all this guilt. And just when you though nothing new could be done with notebooks after all the revamped cloth covers, moleskins and laser-cutting out there, here are two very display worthy new inventions from Paper + Cup designs (here) and Chikabird (here)

What a great phrase. It perfectly describes those pretty little printed things you pick up in a boutique paperie that you're not exactly sure what you'd do with, but are compelled to buy anyway. 'Printed curiosities' is one thing Brooklyn based Sesame Letterpress claim to make for you...gift tags, note books, but also a great custom design service for special occasions. Loving!

If the items in any given stationary cupboard were to compete in a beauty contest I can assure you the old bulldog clip would come last. While the market is saturated with pretty notebooks, textured papers, whimsically shaped erasers and pins, there has been little advancement for the ugly black bulldog clip. Luckily Bubbo Tubbo have turned once redundant typewriter keys being into something to give your documents a vintage and personal touch. They've also done a magnet board and both items with have the contents of your existing stationary cupboard making appointments for cosmetic surgery on the double!

I got my first diary at age nine. It included many an angsty entry about how I loathed to practice the piano, how Dad would only give me have half a Wagon Wheel for arvo tea today, and the scandalous moment when a girl in my class wet herself during story time leaving a puddle on the floor in the shape of - I kid you not- a koala! It's been a passion ever since...if only I'd known I could have condensed as many as 5 years of journalling into one sexy package. Grab one from Fred Flare and enjoy looking back on the ride when it's full.
It's raining outside but children dance and play in the sunshiny world of belleandboo as we speak. Mandy Sutcliff's illustrated creations are a warm teapot of goodness on a day like this! Enjoy!
